That was the message I saw everywhere: an opening, a new club. Paradise-Disco was being mentioned in every group of friends, the topic of the moment.
“Have you heard about the new disco?”
“Yes! I heard they started in a garage, right?”
“I’m so excited for the opening…”
How would you feel about that? Well, I wasn't really into the scene until I heard about this "it" disco. I was just super out of place; I was the only nerd in my college class. And, man, it sucked to hear about something that wasn't part of my routine! Until one day I was invited, and at first, I didn't even like parties, but… since even my neighbor's dog was talking about this disco, why not give it a chance, right?
And, man, I was so happy when I found out the place had a family area; that way, I could stay away from the unnecessary noise. When I got there, my reaction couldn't have been anything less.
There was a pizzeria called Rabbit Hole that had affiliated with Paradise Disco, having the same pizzeria on its first floor, with expanded space and extended content.
It was simply love at first sight. I loved Rabbit Hole, simply the best pizzeria in the area. All those arcade machines with the latest games of the time, the most delicious pizzas and drinks in the region.
I'd been going to Rabbit Hole since I was little and I loved that place; seeing Lilly Rabbit was simply like reliving my inner child.
Lilly is the soul of Rabbit Hole. It's simple, but it has that old recipe we all love: it's a rabbit with exaggeratedly large and crooked ears, with an awkwardly silly face. It's something silly and childish, but everyone likes it.
“I'm working at the Hole Rabbit pizzeria, until the parent company, F&S, decided to merge the pizzeria with their new project, the one Para… Para what was it again? Oh! Paradise-Disco! That’s it, I remember. Anyway, they finally made a decision; the old pizzeria was getting moldy and… I don’t know, people weren’t going there anymore, plus the salary was terrible. But, from what they said, things seem like they’re going to improve.” (December 8, 1975)
"Wow, honestly, I loved this new change. The pizzeria is underground and all, you know? It's much bigger than the old pizzeria. Man, I loved it! Dave loved the change; it was awful for him to be in that hot costume. Now it's much cooler there, and he's always distracted with the kids. Plus, now they pay much better." (April 20, 1976)
“So… work has become kind of complicated. I don’t know if it’s because of the constant activity, and, I don’t know… everything has become tiring. It’s like outside of Paradise-Disco everything is strange… I feel tired, like I haven’t slept in days. It’s been awful, and Dave… oh, Dave, after the renovation, he’s been getting stranger and stranger, easily distracted, staring into space. I’m worried about him.” (May 7, 1990)
“You know, I think I’m going to quit my job. It’s become awful and… ugh, it’s been months since I’ve sat down to write in this stupid diary. Everything’s been stressing me out, and last week I had a fight with Dave and… he’s gone crazy. I’m just getting out of here. I think I’ll spend some time living with my sister.” (October 9, 1992)
