Elli's Diary: October 12, 1992

Two days ago, something happened that… I couldn't even dream of in my worst nightmares. On a rainy night, I was coming home from work and… I saw a lightning bolt ripping through the sky, almost blinding me, and then an absurd bang. This caused a city-wide blackout; actually, I don't know if it was the whole city, but at least where I was, it was pitch black.

I got home a while later; it was around ten o'clock. The power came back on, so I turned on my TV and grabbed a beer. I was flipping through channels, looking for something to watch, until I stumbled upon the news and…

There was an accident at the disco and… my sister works there and… well, used to work there. Dollores, her name was Dollores. People on the first floor were attacked by someone unknown during the blackout. The suspect disappeared; Some died, some survived, and a few were injured: 20 deaths or more, not counting the strange disappearance on the second floor. From what I understand, more than a thousand people disappeared, based on an approximate estimate of the number of people who frequent the nightclub. They tried to check the cameras, but none were working. I think many families will file a lawsuit against them.

I couldn't just sit there, so I rushed to the hospital. From what I had seen in the newspaper, some people who had been attacked had been taken to the hospital. When I arrived, I thanked God that my sister was still alive. I stayed in the hospital room with her until she could wake up.

It was already dawn and I had fallen asleep, but I woke up due to a strange discomfort I suddenly felt. When I opened my eyes, I saw someone sitting on the other side of the stretcher; he was closer to Dollores. I couldn't see who it was, and the room was dark. I could only see the greenish glint of her eyes.

Before I could do anything, Dolores started to stir. She seemed to be having a horrible nightmare; she whispered nonsensical words until that "thing" placed its hand on her shoulder. My sister calmed down instantly.

In the blink of an eye, it was already daytime. It was like waking up from a strange dream. I wish I had understood what Dolores was whispering, especially since those would be her last words until then.
